Class Theme: Igniting Your Inner Light
“There is a light in each of us, waiting to be ignited. The more we trust in our brilliance, the brighter we shine.”
Today, we’re exploring the energy of Tittibhasana, Firefly Pose—a pose that asks for strength

but offers lightness in return. Fireflies glow from within, not because they force their light but because it’s simply part of their nature. Like them, we have an inner light waiting to shine—a steady, radiant energy that fuels our practice and lives.
As we move, let’s focus on building strength without tension, finding power through ease, and allowing our light to shine confidently. Stay connected to your breath and approach this practice with a sense of curiosity. You don’t have to force anything—your light is already there. Let’s uncover it together.
“The firefly does not fear the darkness, for it carries its own light.”
As we prepare for Firefly, let’s connect to our inner glow—that deep, quiet strength within us. Instead of muscling into the pose, think about gathering energy inward—hugging in, compacting, drawing your light close to your center. Then, as you extend your legs, let that light expand outward, illuminating everything around you.
Take a deep breath, trust in your own strength, and take flight. (instruct Fire-Fly pose and modifications. (video coming soon)
Savasana Meditation: Embracing Your Inner Radiance
Lie back, close your eyes, and let your body soften into the earth. Imagine yourself as a firefly resting after a long flight. Your light is still glowing—steady, warm, and effortless. There is nothing to prove, nothing to force.
Feel your inner energy recharging with each inhale—a quiet, golden warmth filling your body. With each exhale, release any doubt, tension, or fear that dims your light.
Know that your light is always within you. It doesn’t depend on how high you lift or how far you stretch—it simply is. You are radiant, just as you are.
Rest here, basking in your glow.
Closing Quote & Reflection
“Your light is your gift to the world. The more you share it, the more it grows.”
As you step off your mat, take this light with you. Let it guide, uplift, and remind you that your strength, presence, and energy are enough—just as they are.
Thank you for sharing your practice and your light with me today. Namaste.
Ignite Your Inner Firefly: A Lighthearted Approach to Tittibhasana
Tittibhasana (Firefly Pose) is a powerful and dynamic arm balance that calls for strength in your core, hip flexors, and arms to lift your pelvis high and extend your legs parallel to the floor. It’s one of those poses that requires a lot of energy—so it’s best to attempt it when you feel strong, steady, and ready to fly! But while the pose is intense, your approach doesn’t have to be. Instead of forcing your way in, see if you can cultivate a sense of ease and playfulness.
Warming Up the Body
A well-rounded warmup is key since Firefly requires open hips, flexible hamstrings, and strong shoulders, wrists, and core. Try incorporating:
• Hip Openers: Malasana (Garland Pose), Lizard Lunge, and Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle Pose) help create hip mobility.
• Hamstring Stretching: Wide-Legged Forward Fold (Prasarita Padottanasana), Half Splits (Ardha Hanumanasana), and Reclined Hand-to-Big-Toe Pose (Supta Padangusthasana) lengthen the back of the legs.
• Wrist and Shoulder Activation: Plank variations, Dolphin Pose, and Wrist Circles prepare the upper body for bearing weight.
• Core Engagement: Boat Pose (Navasana), Dead Bug, and Hollow Body Hold will build the strength needed to lift the legs off the ground.
Finding Lightness in Firefly
Once warm and ready, stay connected to your breath as you enter the pose. Instead of wrestling your way up, think of embodying the essence of a firefly—bright, light, and radiant.
• Gather Energy: As you draw your hips up and in, imagine pulling energy inward, collecting power at your center.
• Shine Outward: As you extend your legs, picture your inner light expanding—radiating confidence and ease.
• Embrace the Squeeze: The gentle hug of your legs around your arms isn’t just physical—it’s also a source of stability and support. Let it fuel your lift.
With time and practice, you’ll discover this pose isn’t just about strength—balance, energy, and finding your unique glow. And as you take flight, you might just realize you’ve been shining all along.
Namaste,
Marda
